Why do silver jewelry turn black? (Scientific principle)

This is the inherent property of silver, not a quality issue.

The main cause: Sulfuration. Silver reacts with the trace amount of hydrogen sulfide in the air to form black silver sulfide.
Accelerating factors: Sweat (containing sulfur), hot springs (sulfur), cosmetics, perfumes, certain foods (such as eggs) etc. can all accelerate this process.
